We wanted to let you know that today was Cooper’s last day on this earth as our sweet little pup. He was doing really badly. He had a neck problem for much of his life that possibly had gotten much worse, but he also seemed to be having some kind of brain problem neurological problem. He was slowly developing dementia, but then his "dementia" (not sure what it was) got really really bad fast and he was always in pain. We had him on lots of medication's – most of the time was only doing well when he was sleeping. He had a few sparks of brightness that gave us a little hope but then it was just a rapid downhill. We thought about more testing, but it really didn't make sense given his age and condition.
Please hold him in your heart and if you pray, please pray for him and his next journey.
We are in Galveston, and it is a beautiful day filled with a sky full of big billowy clouds. Our Houston vet, Dr. Powell, had already given us the contact info of a vet friend of hers who has a mobile hospice/euthanasia service here on the island. We are so glad that she and we were proactive and thought about that this might be needed while we are here this time.
We are including a few pics of our sweet boy that I took this past week. This includes a “Coopie Cloud” from Sunday. Maybe Coop was sending us a message.
Thank you, Marcie, for giving Coopie his first stable and loving home. And for entrusting us with his care. That was May 21, 2012 when he was two. He was about 16.
He was a special little one. I hope he is going on kayak rides in the skies and eating ALL of the heavenly cheese now. 💙🐾😭
Thank you all at DREAM for all the good that you do for the pups.
