Happy Martin

Adopted 12/23/11
Deceased 11/21/25
On November 21st we had to say good-bye to Chappy aka Happy as we renamed him. He was adopted on 12/23/2011 to be a companion for our mom, Pat Barnes, after she retired from working. He was her 24/7 companion from that day until my mom passed away on 11/17/25 at the age of 92. At that point his heart was broken.

Happy was suffering with several issues including pancreatitis, several fatty tumors all over his body and some allergy that caused his feet to swell. He would lay in the closet where my mom's clothes and shoes were and was often heard moaning and howling.

Because he was now approaching 17 years of age we made the decision that he would not overcome his broken heart and we asked the vet to please help him. Happy was a one-person dog, even after 16 years living in the same house (our mom lived with me and my husband for 19 years) he would not let me close to mom if she was sitting in her favorite recliner with him at her side.

He was loved dearly, but he is now free of pain, and just maybe he is with our mom in heaven today.
