Lovely Olympiad ("Lovely Lady")

Lovely died Friday afternoon. We adopted her at the age 11, three years ago this weekend. The years are short when you adopt a senior dog. I knew this day would happen sooner than later due to her age but it was sudden. We weren't ready. When she turned 14 this past summer I would hold her close, tear up and tell her you can't leave me soon I'm going to need you this next school year. She was 8lbs of pure comfort.

I was her person and she was MY dog. At home she followed me around everywhere like a shadow waiting for me to sit down so that we could cuddle. My heart is hurting and my lap is empty but I know she felt loved the years she was with us
