DREAM Angel Memories

Frederic Fiddle

Adopted 11/05/18
Deceased 04/30/24

Frederic Fiddle. Where do I even begin? I was supposed to be taking a break from fostering since I wanted to slow down a bit, but this sweet boy found himself at the SPCA and someone reached out to DREAM about him. Of course, he was in my county so they asked if I could pick him up and care for him for a few days until a new foster was found. Well that didn’t happen at all. We were in love with this poor unhealthy, extremely underweight boy we started calling Fabulous Frederic Fiddle.

We found out he had a family that was interested in adopting him so we kept in touch with them every week about how well he was getting, and they were getting excited it was getting closer to the time to adopt Frederic. After several months of love and care he was ready for his forever family, but unfortunately there was a family emergency and they no longer could adopt him. Months and months went on, and at the day before him being with us for 8 months another family was interested in adopting him. I made my telephone interview and it was by far the worst. I hung up and was not only sad but mad for this little guy. He deserved a forever family of his own. He was so special, sweet, the perfect boy if there could ever be just one. That evening Steven came home from work and as I was telling him about the phone interview, he picked Frederic up and headed off to the office.

I asked him what he was doing and he said he and Frederic had to have a talk. All I heard him say was "Do you like it here? Is this your home?". I cried and cried and right away got in touch with DREAM's adoption coordinator and let her know we would be adopting Frederic. We waited until the next day when he was officially with us 8 months. As the years went on, one after another, and him turning a little frostier day by day he still gave us so many special memories and always had the greatest smiles ever. Unfortunately dementia took our sweet loving boy and stole his personality away from him but we will always remember him as Fabulous Frederic Fiddle.

Sophie Scramble

Adopted 09/08/22
Deceased 04/28/24

We wanted to let you know that Sophie passed away on Sunday. She was being treated for kidney disease, but she got really sick over the weekend.

Although we only had her for a little less than 2 years, we enjoyed every moment. She was such a sweet girl and she got along great with our other 2 dachsies. She will be truly missed.

Cleo Carousel

Adopted 09/03/19
Deceased 04/17/24

We wanted to let you know that Cleo passed away at her vet on 4/17/24. She was a sweet pup, and we are thankful we got to make her part of our family even if only for a short time.

Bella Burrito
"Piper"

Adopted 05/21/18
Deceased 04/15/24

We adopted Bella Burrito (aka "Piper") from DREAM on May 21, 2018. I've attached her adoption photo as well as a few others over the years.

Sadly, Piper was diagnosed with Stage 4 kidney disease in October 2023. Her treatments were going very well until a couple of weekends ago when she took a turn. She peacefully crossed the Rainbow Bridge on April 15, 2024.

We love and miss her so much! She was such a sweet baby and loved her rescue dog siblings. Her favorite season was the summer when she spent most of her time swimming in our pool. It was always very difficult to get her to get out and rest - she just had so much fun.

She was one of a kind and we will miss her forever.

Ophelia Outfielder

Adopted 08/27/16
Deceased 04/12/24

It is with a heavy heart that I share that Ophelia Outfielder Roff passed away on April 12, 2024 from heart failure.

She was our first foster failure, loved playing fetch and obsessed with her stuffed animal babies.

There are so many stories we could share about her big personality in that tiny muscular body.

Ophelia attended several Dachtoberfest events with DREAM and was a caring big sister to Peggy Porsche and many other fosters. While Opie was with DREAM, she graced the cover of a local magazine.

She was such a blessing in our lives for almost 8 years. Opie will be forever missed.

Violette Veneer

Adopted 10/14/18
Deceased 04/10/24

Miss Violet Veneer(Miss V) came into my life October 14, 2018, she loved car rides, exploring outside, lots of naps, and TREATS! She crossed the Rainbow Bridge April 10, 2024 much sooner than I wanted, but multiple medical problems prevented a longer stay in my life. My heart is broken, but I will keep all the great moments we shared forever in my heart.

Many thanks to Dream Dachshund for giving me the opportunity to love this special little girl.

Peaches Petronella

Adopted 03/18/15
Deceased 02/25/24

We said a sad goodbye to another special senior. πŸ’” Peaches' enlarged heart was failing, and she started showing symptoms of excessive coughing and panting on Thursday. She had vet appt for x-rays on Friday and the prognosis wasn't good. 😒

Florence Ford

Adopted 05/14/17
Deceased 02/21/24

I adopted Florence Ford from Dream about 7 years ago. She was my first ever pet and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. She brought so much joy, laughter and unconditional love to not only my home, but my parent's and my sister's homes as well. I am incredibly sad to say she had recently been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney failure and passed the rainbow bridge on Wednesday, Feb 21.

While I am devastated she is no longer with me, I find a bit of solace knowing she is no longer struggling and most likely chasing squirrels and dining on lamb chops, her favorite meal, up above.

Toby Telstar

Adopted 12/18/16
Deceased 02/20/24

It is with heaviest heart that I share the sad news of Toby crossing the Rainbow Bridge today to join his brothers and sisters. I don't know what else to say. He was my life.

Buddy

Adopted 07/09/21
Deceased 01/29/24

We find great peace and comfort knowing that Buddy is doing well in the great beyond. Monday night a few hours after he died, I said that I wish he would send us a signal. Within a few minutes, this ceramic sculpture that our friend made that we've had for many years – longer than we've had Buddy – flew off the wall. It was very well anchored - and there was no wind and no doors opening and closing. Just Tina and I talking on the couch nearby. Buddy's adoption photo -- this first one -- had always been my very favorite picture of him. It was love at first sight, and the personality and sweetness that emanated from this photo is precisely like he was.

I never even noticed this sculpture looks exactly like him. He had that funny ear haircut, sweet smile, and cute nose. And although he is squinting here he had "precious moments" eyes like the ceramic piece. Thank you Aly Winningham for making this sweet sculpture before we even had Buddy. Maybe that helped bring him to us in the first place.

Thank you all so very much for the outpouring of love and support and for bringing Buddy into our lives. He was just perfect. We loved him so very much 😒😒❀️❀️😒😒❀️❀️🐾🐾

Madison Mache

Adopted 11/03/19
Deceased 01/20/24

I just wanted to let you know that Madison Mache crossed over the rainbow bridge this morning. I adopted her on 11/3/19. From the day I met her I knew she was my soul dog. I didn't get much time with her but I feel like I had a life time with her. She was the Princess of the house and kept all her brothers and sisters in line. She had a personality bigger than her little body. Thank you DREAM Team for placing her with me. She had so much love from her tribe people. She had her two moms, a dad, grandmother and grandfather by her side when she crossed. She left behind her two Dream sisters Kiki "Olivia" and Athena "Freckles" and her brother King from a different rescue. Her brother Chase I'm sure was waiting on the other side to give her her crown and wings.
