Update from Ronny's Foster Mom...
Ronny is extremely shy at first, but after a couple of days, and he realizes that he is in a safe environment he will share his super friendly personality and show you how much he loves to be snuggled and relaxed in your lap. Now that he is comfortable, he has not had an accident in the house, nor does he “mark!” Ronny is not at all fond of being in a crate. He doesn’t like being confined, so he needs a home where he can either roam free or possibly be gated in an area like the kitchen. He uses the doggie door and loves to play and run around with his foster dog siblings, so it appears that Ronny would do best with a dog buddy in a home with a fenced yard to play in. He’s good with small children and also enjoys having the ball thrown to him and playing fetch. He walks well on a leash but isn’t a very good car rider. He will bark at strangers like all protective dachsies do, but will quickly approach and give out kisses. Ronny likes to cuddle and snuggle and sleeps soundly all night long next to his foster mom and dad. He’s a great little guy who just wants to be loved, but care must be taken when opening the door, as he’s been known to bolt out the door and make a run for it.
This precious little pup is Ronny Runway. He's a young boy, our vet thinks only about a year old. Somehow Ronny turned up in a shelter south of Houston. One of our rescue partners spotted him laying in his spilled bowl of water shivering in his cage. The shelter told her that Ronny needed to be out by the next day, because no one had come to claim him and his time was up. Thank goodness we were able to accept him in as a new DREAM Dachsie, where we could provide him with any needed veterinary care and then get busy finding him a loving forever family. Many thanks to one of our DREAM Team Volunteers who dropped everything to transport Ronny to our veterinary clinic. He tells us little Ronny is a handsome and very curious little boy. We also thank our fantastic foster who took Ronny home, where he'll be looked after, cared for and can feel safe. He is settling in now and we will learn more about his habits and personality.
