Needs a Dog Buddy

Little Rudy is a year and a half old. He was born a very shy puppy to a breeder in Cypress. Our Prissy Pinklady is his momma. We took in over a dozen dogs from this breeder who was closing down. Most of the dogs were seniors or adults in desperate need of dental care and to be spayed/neutered, but there were several older puppies that she was unable to sell and they were just living either in pens or in a fenced sideyard without proper human socialization. Rudy and Biggie were part of that group. Their two other brothers have already been adopted to patient and loving families that thankfully were willing to work through the dogs' skittish and fearful behavior.

Rudy is most comfortable among other dogs and he loves to play with all the puppies I foster. It's so sweet to see him happy and playful rather than with the little worried expression he often has. He now understands using the doggie door and he has been accident free for quite awhile now. He enjoys being outside but otherwise he's comfortable either in a crate with blankets or buried under one on the couch. Sudden movements toward him will send him running either into a crate or out the dog door. I can only pick him up if he's sitting next to me on the couch or if he's nestled in the dog bed under my desk, he'll let me slowly put him in my arms. He is not leash trained at all, in fact outside noises like cars driving by, doors slamming, unfamiliar voices would be more than he could take at this point. He needs a calm household with several other playful and loving dachshunds and someone with alot of patience determined to win this little one's trust. I know in time he will come around... I see improvements every week!
